Shopfronts on the main street in Dingle at dusk

Route · SNN to Dingle

Shannon Airport to Dingle

The longest of the standard runs from Shannon, and the one where the last hour is the reason people come.

The route

South, then west along the peninsula

N21 to Castleisland, past Tralee, then the N86 down the peninsula. The road narrows for the last forty minutes.

  1. Shannon Airport

    Pickup · arrivals hall

Met inside with a name sign. Flights are tracked, so an early landing is not a problem.

  2. Adare

    Optional · 35 minutes in

The usual coffee stop on the way south, and the last easy one for a while.

  3. Tralee

    On the way · 2 h in

The road turns west here. On a late arrival this is the last town with everything open.

  4. Annascaul

    Optional · 20 minutes out

A village on the water with one famous pub. A five minute stop, not a detour.

  5. Dingle

    Drop-off · any address

Guesthouse, harbour, or a cottage out towards Ventry. The town itself is small enough to reach any door.

Vehicle

Which car for the peninsula

Narrow roads for the final stretch, so a Minibus needs to be told in advance. Everything up to an Executive MPV is straightforward.

  • Executive Sedan

    Executive Sedan

    2 pax · 2 cases

Two travellers with hand luggage and a case each.

  • Executive MPV

    Executive MPV

    7-8 pax · up to 10 cases

The default for families and any party with golf clubs. Every seat taken leaves less room for cases.

  • Minibus

    Minibus

    16 pax

Tour groups and corporate parties travelling together.

Evening light on the road west
Late arrivals into Kerry travel this stretch in the dark, which is one more reason not to drive it yourself

Questions

About this route

Two hours forty-five, is that with stops?

No. That is the driving time on a clear road. A twenty minute stop in Adare or Tralee makes it just over three hours.

Do you drive the Conor Pass?

Not as part of a transfer. It is a narrow mountain road and it is not the route we take with luggage on board. It belongs to a touring day, and we quote that separately.

What about a late arrival?

We meet night flights. The chauffeur waits, the flight is tracked, and a delay does not change the price you agreed.

Can we stop at Inch Beach?

Yes. It sits directly on the road in and adds around twenty minutes.

  • One way

A single journey, quoted before you travel. Tolls and parking are inside the price.

    Most arrivals

  • Return, booked together

Both legs in one enquiry. On a peninsula this far out, the departure is the leg worth locking in early.

    Short breaks

  • Keep the car on the peninsula

Slea Head, Ventry and back to the town for dinner, with the car and chauffeur waiting rather than leaving. Charged as a touring day.

What our guests say

Next step

The peninsula is a day, not a drive-through.

Slea Head and Ventry with the car waiting for you, rather than a transfer that ends at the door.
