Questions
About this day
Do we need to book Newgrange in advance?
Yes. The site says pre-booking is essential and tickets are limited. Bookings open 30 days ahead from April to the start of November and seven days ahead the rest of the year, so tell us your date early.
Can we go inside the tomb at Newgrange?
From March to the start of November the Brú na Bóinne tour includes the Newgrange chamber, and in winter the site runs a Newgrange tour with the exhibition. The passage is low and narrow, which the site warns may not suit visitors with claustrophobia or limited mobility. Knowth has no chamber access.
Can the car drive us straight to Newgrange?
No. Entry is only from the Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre, and the shuttle bus takes visitors to the monuments. We drop you at the centre and collect you there afterwards.
Can you buy the tickets for us?
We can book them on the official site for you. Tickets bought on resale sites are not accepted at the door. You pay for the Brú na Bóinne tickets and for lunch in Slane.
