General Conditions of Transportation

These General Conditions of Transportation apply to all chauffeur services provided by Irish Transfer. By booking our service, you accept these conditions in addition to our Terms and Conditions.

1. Scope of Application

These conditions apply to all passenger transportation services provided by Irish Transfer within Ireland and to/from Ireland, including:

  • Airport transfers
  • Point-to-point transportation
  • Hourly chauffeur services
  • Day tours and sightseeing
  • Wedding and event transportation
  • Business and corporate travel

2. Booking Requirements

2.1 Passenger Information

When making a booking, you must provide accurate information about:

  • Number of Passengers: Total number including adults and children
  • Children: Ages of all children (special requirements for children under 12)
  • Luggage: Number and approximate size of bags/suitcases
  • Special Items: Golf clubs, wheelchairs, musical instruments, or oversized items
  • Accessibility Needs: Any mobility requirements or special assistance needed
  • Pets: Prior approval required for animals (service animals always welcome)

2.2 Child Safety Requirements

Important: Irish law requires appropriate child restraints for children under certain ages and heights.
  • Children under 150cm (4’11”) or weighing less than 36kg: Must use an appropriate child car seat or booster seat
  • Infants: Must use a rear-facing car seat
  • Child Seat Provision: Please request child seats at time of booking (complimentary service)
  • Your Own Seats: You may provide your own child seats if preferred

2.3 Luggage Capacity

Vehicle luggage capacity varies by vehicle type:

Oversized Luggage: Golf clubs, skis, musical instruments, or oversized items must be mentioned at booking. We will confirm if accommodation is possible.

3. Service Execution

3.1 Pickup Procedure

Standard Pickups (Hotels, Homes, Addresses):

  • Driver arrives 5 minutes before scheduled time
  • Driver will call/text you upon arrival
  • Included waiting time: 15 minutes
  • Driver will assist with luggage

Airport Pickups:

  • Flight monitoring: We track your flight in real-time
  • Meet & Greet: Driver meets you in arrivals hall with name sign
  • Included waiting time: 60 minutes from actual landing time
  • Free waiting for flight delays
  • Driver monitors flight status automatically

3.2 Communication

Before your journey, you will receive:

  • 24 hours before: Confirmation with driver details
  • On the day: Driver’s name, phone number, and vehicle details
  • Live updates: Driver will communicate arrival and any changes

3.3 Vehicle Standards

All Irish Transfer vehicles are:

  • Premium Mercedes-Benz vehicles
  • Less than 5 years old
  • Professionally maintained and serviced
  • Cleaned and valeted before each journey
  • Equipped with air conditioning
  • Stocked with complimentary bottled water
  • Fully insured for passenger transport

3.4 Driver Standards

All Irish Transfer drivers are:

  • Professionally trained and experienced
  • Fully licensed for passenger transport
  • Uniformed and presentable
  • English-speaking
  • Knowledgeable about Irish routes and attractions
  • Background-checked and insured
  • Trained in customer service and safety

4. Changes and Cancellations

4.1 Changes by Customer

Rebooking/Rescheduling:

  • Free changes: More than 24 hours before pickup (subject to availability)
  • Short notice changes: Less than 24 hours – subject to €50 rebooking fee
  • Last minute changes: Less than 2 hours – cannot be guaranteed

Route Changes During Journey:

  • Minor route changes: Accommodated where possible (price may be adjusted)
  • Major route changes: Driver will contact office for price confirmation
  • Additional stops: €15 per stop (up to 10 minutes each)

4.2 Cancellation Policy

Less than 12 hours before pickup No refund
No-show No refund – Full charge

4.3 Flight Delays and Changes

  • Delays: No additional charge if your flight is delayed
  • Early arrivals: Please notify us as soon as possible
  • Cancellations: If your flight is cancelled, contact us immediately for free rebooking
  • Diversions: If your flight is diverted to a different airport, please notify us – price may be adjusted

5. Waiting Time and Late Arrivals

5.1 Included Waiting Time

  • Airport pickups: 60 minutes from actual landing time
  • Hotel/residence pickups: 15 minutes from scheduled time
  • Train station pickups: 15 minutes from scheduled time

5.2 Additional Waiting Time Charges

If waiting time exceeds the included period:

  • Rate: €30 per hour
  • Minimum charge: 30 minutes (€15)
  • Charged in: 15-minute increments
  • Maximum waiting: 90 minutes (beyond which booking may be cancelled)

5.3 Customer Delays

If you are running late:

  • Contact us immediately at +353 89 478 3880
  • Provide estimated arrival time
  • Driver will wait within the maximum waiting period
  • Additional waiting time charges will apply

5.4 No-Show

A no-show occurs when:

  • You do not arrive within the maximum waiting time (90 minutes)
  • You cannot be contacted at the provided phone number
  • You fail to notify us of delay or cancellation

Consequence: Full booking amount charged with no refund.

6. Passenger Conduct

6.1 Prohibited Behavior

The following is strictly prohibited in all Irish Transfer vehicles:

  • Smoking (including e-cigarettes and vaping)
  • Consumption of alcohol or illegal substances
  • Eating (unless pre-approved for long journeys)
  • Aggressive or abusive behavior toward driver or other passengers
  • Excessive noise or disruptive behavior
  • Damage to vehicle or equipment
  • Violation of Irish law

6.2 Right to Refuse Service

We reserve the right to refuse or terminate service if:

  • Passenger is intoxicated or under the influence of substances
  • Passenger behaves aggressively or abusively
  • Passenger refuses to wear a seatbelt
  • Passenger endangers safety of driver or others
  • Passenger violates these conditions

In such cases, no refund will be provided.

6.3 Safety Requirements

  • Seatbelts: Must be worn by all passengers at all times (Irish law)
  • Children: Must be in appropriate car seats/boosters
  • Standing: Not permitted while vehicle is in motion
  • Emergency instructions: Follow driver’s instructions in emergencies

7. Liability and Insurance

7.1 Passenger Safety

Irish Transfer maintains comprehensive insurance including:

  • Passenger liability insurance (up to €20,000,000)
  • Public liability insurance
  • Comprehensive vehicle insurance
  • Employer’s liability insurance

7.2 Luggage and Personal Property

  • Handling: We handle luggage with care
  • Liability: We accept liability for damage caused by our negligence
  • Valuable items: Should be kept with you, not in trunk
  • Lost property: Report immediately – we’ll assist but cannot guarantee recovery
  • Prohibited items: We are not liable for loss/damage of prohibited items

7.3 Delays and Missed Connections

While we strive for punctuality:

  • We are not liable for delays caused by traffic, road closures, weather, or force majeure
  • We recommend booking with adequate time margins for flights/connections
  • We are not liable for costs of missed flights, trains, or appointments unless caused by gross negligence

8. Special Circumstances

8.1 Vehicle Substitution

In exceptional circumstances (breakdown, accident, emergency), we reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle. You will be notified immediately.

8.2 Service Interruption

We may need to interrupt or cancel service due to:

  • Severe weather conditions
  • Road closures or emergencies
  • Government restrictions
  • Safety concerns

In such cases, we will offer rebooking or full refund.

8.3 Pets and Animals

  • Service animals: Always welcome at no additional charge
  • Pets: Permitted only with advance approval
  • Requirements: Pets must be in appropriate carriers or on leash
  • Cleaning: Additional cleaning fee (€50) if pet causes excessive mess

9. Payment and Pricing

9.1 Fixed Price Includes

  • Professional chauffeur service
  • Fuel and vehicle costs
  • Standard waiting time
  • Toll charges and parking fees
  • Luggage handling
  • Meet and greet (airport transfers)
  • Complimentary water
  • All taxes and VAT

9.2 Additional Charges

Charges not included in fixed price:

  • Waiting time beyond included period: €30/hour
  • Additional stops: €15 per stop
  • Route changes: Price adjustment as applicable
  • Cleaning fee: €50-€200 (if required due to spills, mess, or smoking)
  • Damage to vehicle: Cost of repairs

10. Complaints and Disputes

10.1 During Service

If you have concerns during your journey:

  • Speak with the driver directly (if safe and appropriate)
  • Contact our office immediately: +353 89 478 3880
  • We will address issues in real-time when possible

10.2 After Service

For complaints after service:

  • Include: Booking reference, date, details of issue
  • We will respond within 48 hours
  • Full investigation and response within 7 working days
